Shuzhi Tianji starts building the Tianzhi constellation, 96 software-defined satellites in its first phase
Beijing Shuzhi Tianji Technology held its opening ceremony on 13 October and launched construction of the Tianzhi constellation. The first phase consists of 96 multi-function software-defined satellites, with basic network deployment planned for around 2029.
According to Shuzhi Tianji, the opening ceremony of Beijing Shuzhi Tianji Technology Co., Ltd. was held on 13 October at the Sigma Building in Haidian District, Beijing, together with a ceremony launching construction of the Tianzhi constellation.
The company will build and operate the constellation itself. Its first phase consists of 96 multi-function software-defined satellites, which can later be optimised, interconnected and upgraded in orbit as needed. The company says it will develop and launch the Tianzhi satellites as fast as possible and plans to complete the basic network of the constellation around 2029.
Shuzhi Tianji says the constellation will be the first to bring AI agent technology to space, addressing the fixed functions and limited autonomy of conventional satellites to create shareable, reconfigurable space infrastructure.
Our take: combining software-defined satellites with AI agents is one current direction in satellite internet. If the plan proceeds on schedule, it adds another player to low Earth orbit constellations.
