Liquid oxygen/methane rocket engines; reusable engines (Lingyun and Longyun series)
Founded in 2017, Jiuzhou Yunjian develops liquid oxygen/methane rocket engines and was among the earlier Chinese commercial propulsion firms to demonstrate torch ignition, multiple restarts, deep throttling and reuse. On 23 April 2026 the company completed a change of registered address, moving from Beijing to 395 Chunde Road, Minhang District, Shanghai, and renaming itself Jiuzhou Yunjian Space Technology Co., Ltd. Its two product lines are the Lingyun and Longyun engines. Lingyun, the company's first liquid engine, supports multiple restarts, deep throttling and reuse, with more than 10,000 seconds of cumulative hot-fire time. Longyun is a high-thrust recoverable engine; the LY70 variant produces about 686 kN of sea-level thrust per unit, throttles between 32% and 106%, is designed for more than 50 reuses, and had accumulated over 20,000 seconds of hot-fire time by 2025, with 19 units of the series delivered. On the customer side, the first stage of the Long March 12A launch vehicle, developed by SAST under CASC, clusters seven Longyun engines; it flew for the first time on 23 December 2025, reaching orbit with the second stage while the first-stage vertical recovery attempt failed. Commercial customer Rocket Pi also uses the engine on its Yuanxingzhe-1 reusable demonstrator. The company closed a Series C++ round in March 2026 at a post-money valuation of RMB 10 billion, with investors including Shanghai Chuanchuang No.1 Fund and Dalinghaowan Qihang Fund.

The Long March 12A launch vehicle flew for the first time on the morning of 23 December 2025 from the Dongfang commercial spaceport test area. Its first stage clustered seven Jiuzhou Yunjian Longyun LOX/methane engines, with a single YF-209V on the second stage. The second stage reached the intended orbit; the first stage encountered an anomaly during vertical landing and was not recovered. The mission was assessed as broadly successful.

Rocket Pi's Yuanxingzhe-1 demonstrator completed a sea-landing recovery flight test at 04:40 on 29 May 2025, running through eight phases: ignition and liftoff, full-thrust ascent, throttling, first engine shutdown, free-fall coast, engine restart, deceleration to a hover above the sea, and soft splashdown. The Jiuzhou Yunjian Longyun engine used, serial LY70005, had completed calibration hot-fire at the end of 2023 and was the first of the series delivered for flight. The test focused on wide-range throttling, restart at high dynamic pressure after an 8-second coast, and flying directly after a full-profile static fire with only light servicing.
