Report: Xingkan Jiuzhou's three Diting-01 RF-sensing satellites to launch from Jiuquan, built by Chang Guang Satellite

Sina Finance reports that Xingkan Jiuzhou, founded in late 2023, is leading a radio-frequency sensing constellation called Diting. The first three satellites, built by Chang Guang Satellite Technology, are to launch from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre for on-orbit testing of space-based electromagnetic spectrum geolocation. As of publication we found no independent confirmation that the launch has taken place.

Sina Finance reported on 30 August 2026 that the three Diting-01 radio-frequency sensing satellites, led by Xingkan Jiuzhou and built by Chang Guang Satellite Technology, are to launch from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Centre. Flying as a three-satellite formation, they geolocate radio-frequency emitters through simultaneous multi-point observation. The mission is framed as an on-orbit test of space-based electromagnetic spectrum geolocation, with applications listed as spectrum management, maritime vessel monitoring, public safety and rail.

Xingkan Jiuzhou was founded in late 2023 and, according to the report, closed a new funding round in 2026 for an undisclosed amount. The report calls the constellation "China's HawkEye 360" — HawkEye 360 deployed its first Pathfinder cluster in the same three-satellite formation in 2018, has since extended from commercial RF data into US intelligence and defence customers, and listed on the NYSE (HAWK) on 8 May 2026.

One caveat: the report gives the launch timing only as "in the near future" and names neither a date nor a launch vehicle. As of publication we found no independent confirmation that the launch has occurred. We are recording this at the level the report supports and will update once the outcome is confirmed.

Our take: read alongside HawkEye 360 in our company database, the difference is not the technology but the customer mix. It took HawkEye 360 seven years to move from commercial RF data to intelligence and defence contracts, and that shift is what carried it to an IPO. The applications listed for Diting — spectrum management, maritime monitoring, rail — all point to domestic government and enterprise buyers. The metric that matters for how fast this segment commercialises is whether the first three satellites win repeat paying customers once on orbit, not the size of the planned constellation.

Why included: A radio-frequency sensing constellation led by a private commercial operator and built by a commercial satellite manufacturer, entering a niche previously defined by HawkEye 360.
